First day at the gym.
Working out, something that has been with me since i was 7 years old. Yup,at that tender age i was already thrown into this “angkat besi ” scene as what the local sabahans would call it because i was once a National Swimmer.
At the beginning of my swimming journey all these workout was horrendous to me! . Imagine at 7, you are asked to do push up, sit up, leg curls, bicep curls and bla bla bla for at least few good sets!. But with all the pain, the cries and the complains that i made and of cos the laziness that creeps in once in a while, i’ve never once regretted being in the National swim team. It’s a lifetime experience for me. And hey, i developed nice toned body from it,so am not complaining….:)
Anyway, working out is never easy for anyone specially if this is your first time in the gym. It is only normal that you feel lost, worried, malu and scared. Everyone go through this..trust me!
So let’s make this easy for you..before you decide to go to the gym, call your trainer and book an appointment with them in advance! (Your membership normally includes 3 free personal training session - depends on the club term and condition juga la). At least with them around on your first few visit you won’t be looking like a lost lamb in the training area.
and hey, they will give you a good workout too you know..a good workout program that is.
So, now use your 3 free session wisely. Ask as many question as you can about your workout, diet, what is this machine for, that machine and bla bla bla..you know the questions la.. Oh don’t forget to tell them your goal as well (On day one itself) so they can design one simple program to suits your need.
Secondly, when you are going to the gym, please wear a proper gym wear. I have seen few idiotic people thinking that they look great in those weird stuff especially this one in particular who think she is Britney spears and truly madly deeply love to wear super skimpy hot JEANS and t shirt tied at the back showing off her flabby belly! And to make things worse, she also wore a knee and elbow padding while running on treadmill!!! (The knee and elbow padding is the one that you use for roller skating! The plastic type …you know what i mean?) We end up naming her ROBOCOP!
Jeans and slipper is totally out from the “PROPER GYM WEAR LIST” You may end up being escorted out from the gym floor if you wear one of those. Perhaps you might wanna try using short pants or long track bottom , t-shirt and a pair of running shoe. It is not necessary for you to buy all those expensive working out gear as long as you are comfortable and it is appropriate for gym wear…you are good to go!
So peeps, i hope this will help you get started in your day one journey through a healthy lifestyle!
Adios peeps…have fun!
