Sue Seday - Hello in Cambodia.
Overall the trip to Cambodia was just ok for me.
The weather was super hot which was great, KL has been raining like nuts everyday and being in a warm sunny place for a change was good.
Food in Siem Reap was a disappointment to me, maybe i thought they would be serving something similar to Thailand food(Sour and spicy) but nope, they served everything with sugar even if you are having red curry beef for lunch! Imagine makan curry tapi rasa dia manis and the amount of the coconut milk they put in the curry was super thick!! Well at least for me la…i don’t take santan you see. Sikit-sikit ok la…but that amount..errr i felt sick after few bites of the curry beef. I remember the chicken wing we bought on the way back from Tonle Sap(oh btw, they call it chicken wing there though it’s actually whole chicken thigh that come with the claw, erk!), i was super hungry( gastric hitting in) the chicken bakar smells good and thought that i should give it a try.(usually i don’t just simply buy food from the street, this street is super dusty). The aroma of the chicken bakar really fooled me, i “died” after the 3rd bite! I could not take it anymore, i gagged and threw the chicken away! Dan had 1 bite and he stopped. For me the chicken taste like Tahi Ayam and Dan said his ayam tasted like BULU AYAM! You know like when they are about to kill the chicken, they rendam the chicken in super hot water? And the smell that comes out from it?? Exactly like that and if you can’t imagine still, just bring yourself down to chicken market im pretty sure you will smell it! All because i was hungry….sigh. After that incident,it’s all beef for me in Siem Reap! If you want to know, nope i have not taken any chicken since that incident till today,PHOBIA!

Chicken with funny taste..LOL!!

Lunch that cost us RM30++ and it’s a sweet curry.
We were bit unlucky when it comes to the temple visits. Everything was under construction, there was not much adventure for me and Daniel. We did not managed to go through dark passage like what some of my colleague told me and really see the whole temple itself.
Sad.
Except for Bayon that is why i have a lot of pictures in Bayon temple but not the Tree and Angkor Wat temple.
Everything in Siem Reap is in USD so (for me)everything is expensive! You really need to know how to bargain. Sometimes you need to “jual mahal” for you to get the price that you want. And don’t expect to see shopping mall, cos you won’t see one except Old Market, Central Market and Night Market.
Oh well, that was my experience with Siem Reap. There is more…but nah, don’t want to spoil the fun…go and check Cambodia out yourself and experience it…we may see it differently.

Siem Reap is one of the places that I want to go because of the Angkor Wat - but I think, definitely has to wait till the kids are bigger or just go with the hubby. Don’t sound like a place to bring the kids with.
And that chicken dish definitely sounds “funky”, LOL

ok…i can imagine the smell and the taste…eeeeeeeww! now i can further elaborate my imagination. Perhaps they didnt even sembelih the ayam properly. You know, kasi mati, buka bulu, then cuci2 like that only then terus bakar….urrggh!
But i love to go there for the ancient buildings and temples. Something that you dont find in your own place bah.
