Cheap affordable hotel in Penang
Posted on 16. Nov, 2009 by emelda in work
It’s been 4 days now that i am here in Penang.
My weekend was superb, no complain about it. I really had fun. Meeting new friends, my schoolmate and of cos blogging friend and the food’s yummy ( i think i’ve gained a kilo dy) ;P
So let me share with you about the place that im staying currently ok
Im living in this small boutique hotel ( 3 star) called PP ISLAND HOTEL situated right at Abu Siti Lane off Macalisster road. Their charges is only Rm78 Per night for standard room and Rm88 for the deluxe room.. affordable isn’t it?
This hotel provides, towel, LCD tvs, water heater, shoe cabinet and wardrobe and shower gel
but no room service as in sending food to the room and provide buffet breakfast.
The hawker stalls is near to the hotel, unfortunately..i have been warned not to walk alone in the alley specially at night as this place is prone to have motorbiker doing their “small businesses” here .. snatch thief. Dangerous!
The hotel staff will also help you to call for your cab/taxi if you ever needed one.. but be prepare to pay crazy amount of money for a short trip!!! Take my daily trip for example… PP island hotel and Gurney plaza is only about 3-5km away… but i have to pay rm12-15 per trip and that’s like from Subang to Mid Valley price!!! GILA KAN?? SUPER EXPENSIVE! and i was told that this is the standard price here in Penang for taxi fare
I’ve asked a cab driver once, why is the cab fare here in Penang for cab super expensive..his answer was… because they do not use NGV gas here in penang but instead they use petrol.. hence why the price is super expensive to hire a cab although it is only a short distance. sigh…
My advice, if you ever think to come to Penang and use a cab services.. please bring along tonnes of money along with you.. even i have to spent at least rm50 per day to survive here .. that’s including my food and to and fro cab fare from my hotel and office.
Other than that.. i would highly recommend this hotel if you wish to visit Penang
So here’s the pictures for you to see

The hotel looks nice, though if I ever to return to Penang, I’d probably stay near Feringghi or Tanjung Bungah area.
I have to admit the price is super cheap though, for such a clean-looking place. Certainly beats the Tune Hotel we stayed in Kuching!

Got cheaper one if you like RM23-30 per night, depending single or double bed. Clean, attach bathroom and also all importantly no night-time knock-knock service.
