As you all know, we had a short mini getaway over the weekend to Malacca supposedly to celebrate the Saint Pedro festival at the Portugese settlement but hmm we were disappointed with it. YEP, the weekend event schedule was not as good as the weekday event.
Weird isn’t it? They should do something more interesting over the weekend knowing well there would be more crowd coming in than weekdays… hmm entah la. So instead of getting to see the traditional dance and all… we just got to see some KL band came and perform…BORING!
We did a lot of fun stuff in Melaka, bits of shopping, hunt for traditional food (Dodol, durian cake, cencaluk, belacan etc ) walk the ever famous Jonker street, river cruise, when for Menara taming sari, the ship museum, kota a famosa and of cos we have to have their yummy local dishes!
Our first night stay was in this place called Riverview guest house…it’s tuck nicely between olden days shop houses. This place is not 5 star hotel for sure ( if you are looking for one that is) but definitely comfortable enough to call it a home away from home. The room was really clean and nice, the common toilet (there’s heater provided) was superbly clean and the view from the balcony was awesome too!The owner Mani and Raymond was really kind and friendly.Raymond took the time to explain where and what to do in Melaka town for us as soon as we checked in (don’t think you’ll get this services in hotel), they even offer us a nice homemade chocolate cake which is FOC at any time of the day!
This guest house also provides you free wifi, Guest kitchen and fridge, mini library, bath towel, aircon and ceiling fan in each room, coffee and tea FOC and TV in the sitting area.
Anyhow, if you want to know more and see more pictures of this guest house…just Google Riverview guest house Melaka..im sure you will be able to see more reviews just like the Maxim lighting too
and here’s some of the pictures i took from this guest house.
